Local company donates
Gift benefits engineering students
Steel Dynamics Inc., which operates five electric furnace mini-mills in northern Indiana, has made a gift of equipment to the Trine University Allen School of Engineering & Technology.
The equipment is used for tensile testing of materials. Tensile testing measures the breaking point of substances, and sees use in a variety of industries, including producers of metals and polymers, equipment fabricators and manufacturers, commercial testing laboratories, and research institutions and labs.
The new equipment increases the school’s capacity to put technology into the hands of students who will soon use it for the testing and improvement of manufactured products.
