Financier Willman will address global economy

Financier and Tri-State University alumnus David Willman will call upon 30 years of experience in financial services when he presents “Financial Markets in the Global Economy” as Trine University’s next Distinguished Speaker on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre. With his extensive experience in business and connection to Angola, Willman brings unique insight into the current economic crisis facing residents of northeast Indiana and the entire nation.

A global client service partner for Ernst & Young in Chicago, he directs the overall delivery of audit, tax and advisory services to clients, coordinating the efforts of the company’s global teams and other specialists when necessary. He has also practiced in the company’s Indianapolis and Fort Wayne offices.

He has served life and health and casualty insurance companies, insurance agencies, investment companies, managed care entities, and third-party administrators. His duties have included auditing the financial statements of insurance companies to enforce U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and statutes, providing auditing and reporting for the Securities and Exchange Commission and assisting companies with initial public offerings. He has helped companies with acquisitions and divestiture strategies, business combinations, stock compensation, derivatives, and foreign currency transactions.

Willman is a certified public accountant and a 1977 Tri-State graduate. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public accountants and the Indiana and Illinois CPA Societies. He has been active in numerous civic, community and not-for-profit organizations throughout his career. Dave and his wife, Jill, have three children, two of whom attend college.

The Distinguished Speaker series will wrap up with “U.S. Global Competitiveness” by Navistar Truck President Group Dee Kapur on March 25. The series is a service of the Office of Academic Affairs.
