Campus available June 1-July 31

Trine University’s new conference and events program, running from June 1-July 31, is seeing some activity in its first summer. While she gears up for the 600 delegates to Trine's first Hoosier Boys State June 13-20, Trine conferences and events director Victoria Lewis is preparing for another 48 middle school-age boys and girls headed to campus July 12-24 for the university's first ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. ExxonMobil granted Trine $80,000 to provide one of the newest sites for the camp.

Trine has the facilities to serve sizeable groups, Lewis said. The university can house up to 1,000 guests in air-conditioned townhouse-style or traditional housing complexes, some on scenic 18-hole Zollner Golf Course. The new University Center and Center for Online Resources offers group study resources in its digital classroom, and provides full service multi-media resources in a wireless environment. The center’s Whitney Commons café boasts a gourmet culinary staff to tailor menus to any conference theme, dinner, or party.

The 320-seat Fabiani Theatre provides a large venue for Power Point and other presentations, entertainment, and awards ceremonies. Best Hall contains a smaller auditorium, and Taylor Hall holds unique gathering places in the charming Wells Theatre and Wells Gallery.

The center’s bookstore is a convenient pick-up point for clothing and small or novelty items, while guests needing a workout or some down time can take advantage of the Hornbacher Fitness Center or lounges with therapy chairs.

Conference attendees can break up class work with a round of golf on Zollner Golf Course, where undulating fairways and recently redesigned bunkers and water hazards provide challenges for even expert golfers. Trine also offers indoor and outdoor tennis, in the new Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC), which provides air-conditioned comfort, or on outdoor courts near Hershey Hall. The ARC also houses a state-of-the-art indoor track and training facility which connects to Hershey Hall’s complete athletic complex. Hershey’s three gymnasiums, locker rooms, offices, and workout room team with the Ketner Sports Center to offer comprehensive facilities for sports camps and regional and national competitions. New athletic fields, with both natural and artificial turf, are also available.

Those who wish can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking in nearby Pokagon State Park, or take in other activities on the many waterways in Steuben County, the Land of 101 Lakes.

Trine is ideally located at the intersection of I 80-90 and I-69 in the northeast corner of Indiana, an easy drive from Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, or Indianapolis. Non-residential events and conferences can be booked at Trine year-round.
