Service awards presented

Trine employees honored

 

Trine University employees passing milestones in their service to the university in 2008 were honored at a social March 26 in the Franks Executive Boardroom in the C.W. Sponsel Administration Center.

Employees gathered with administrators to chat over cake and punch before Trine University President Earl D. Brooks II and Executive Director of People Services Cathy Faye presented certificates and gifts while relating humorous vignettes about some of the long-term employees. Brooks praised the dedication of the employees. “There is no way or enough words to express our appreciation for your support on a daily basis,” he said.

Earning awards for five years of service were, front from left, Cindy Ax, receptionist and visit coordinator assistant for the Office of Admission; Pam Fifer, administrative assistant and admission counselor at Trine North; and Linda Decker, an Information Technology staff member. In back from left are Dawn Sichling, campus operations; Dr. Don Kreitzer, chairman of the Department of Business Administration; Michael Luzusky, assistant football coach, Department of Sport & Hospitality Management; Nicholas Wentworth, campus operations; Dr. Tim Hopp, English professor in the Department of Language and Humanities; and Julia Wert, Annual Fund director, Office of Alumni and Development. Not pictured are Dr. Stephen Carr, associate professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering; and Dr. Yalcin Ertekin, assistant professor in the Engineering Technology Department.

Jeanette Prosser of campus operations, left, and Marlene Sweet, a Department of Criminal Justice instructor, center, were recognized for 10 years of service. Kathie Wentworth, assistant professor in the Department of Language & Humanities and Director of Academic Support Services, right, was honored for 20 years of service.

Service award employees pictured from left are Brooks Bigelow, associate professor in the Department of Science, 20 years; Electrical & Computer Engineering Department professor Dr. Lawrence Samuelson and Trine Registrar Debra Helmsing, 25 years; and Dr. Steven Schonefeld, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics & Informatics, 30 years. A forty-year award went to David Syler, former chair of the Department of Mathematics & Informatics, who has retired.

Receiving service awards but unable to attend the social were five-year recipients professor Allen Hersel, coach Donald Danklefsen II, professor Stephen Carr, and staff member Robert Sowles; 10-year faculty members Cindy Neyer and William Maddock; 20-year recipient and Alumni & Development staff member Michael Ferrell; 25-year faculty members Dan Matthews and Ira Jones; and Franks School of Education Dean Suzanne Van Wagner, 25 years.
