Special Olympics team overpowers locals

A Special Olympics basketball game in Trine University’s Hershey Hall April 1 raised over $4,500 for Rehabilitative and Industrial Services Enterprise (RISE) Inc., a sheltered workshop in Angola, and Angola’s Special Olympics team.

Trine adaptive physical education professor and assistant men’s basketball coach Ed Bentley called the second annual basketball challenge between the Special Olympics team and a community team a great success. The Boilin’ Blazers Special Olympics team faced off against the Mayor’s Prayers community team, with the Blazers prevailing by a score of 52-49.

Trine students organized the event, which showcased great basketball players with disabilities, Bentley said. He thanked the Trine and local communities on behalf of his students for their support and attendance.
