Happenings On Campus

10 April 2010

Bienvenue! Bienvenidos! Valkommen! Merhaba!

No matter how you say it, chances are a Trine student will know it means “welcome.” The International Student Association teamed with several other student organizations and departments to welcome students, faculty, staff and the Angola community to the 42nd annual International Night on Saturday, April 10. Visitors enjoyed a global bazaar in the University Center mall, filled with music, food, exhibits, activities and entertainment from the countries of Trine University students.

The cultural celebration ended with performances by Trine students and staff, followed by a professional Latino dance in Fabiani Theatre. An admission fee generated funds to help those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Countries/Regions/Tribes represented were Argentina, China, Bolivia, India, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Mexico, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Saipan, Sweden, England, Panama, Syria, Potawatomi, Jamaica, Nigeria, Liberia, Czech Republic and Russia.

Caricatures, henna tattooing, Chinese, Korean and Arabic calligraphy, Southeast Asian face painting, international jewelry, Native American pottery, Japanese marble paper, Reiki massage, chain mail, cultural exhibits, arts and crafts, food samples, displays and demonstrations were offered at the bazaar, along with Study Abroad information for students.
