Jon Walmer

Trine Alumni Employee Promoted to Dean of Admission

Jon Walmer, 2004 MGT, was recently promoted to dean of admission. Walmer started working at Trine in 2005 as an admission counselor. Since then, he has served as the athletic recruiting coordinator, associate director of admission, and the director of admission. He also served as an assistant baseball coach for seven years, with his last season being 2011.

Active on Trine’s campus, Walmer serves as the advisor for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and teaches a managerial finance class each semester.

Sarah Brown

Trine Alumni Employee Recognized as outstanding Leader

Sarah Brown, 1998 MGT, was recently named to the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly’s 2013 40 under 40 class. Brown has served as the director of annual giving for Trine University since 2010. She began working at Trine in 2007 as the director of student life, before becoming the director of alumni relations and events in 2009. She is also an adjunct professor for the Trine Virtual Campus.

Off campus, Brown serves on the board of directors for the Steuben County Humane Society, is vice president of Junior Achievement of Northeast Indiana and chair of its public relations committee, and a member of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.

Alumni serve on panel at VIP Visit Day

The VIP Visit Day is a Trine University visit day centered on admitted applicants. More than 70 prospective students were on campus March 23, some making their final visit before making the decision of which college to attend. Also in attendance for the day were four alumni who served on a question and answer panel:  Paul Verdeyen, 2010 ME; Nicole Muir-Kimmerly, 2005 CJ; Katelyn Storms, SMGT 2010; and Zane McDonald, Eled 2008. Ketner School of Business Dean and Trine alumnus bringing small business to Angola

KSB Dean and Trine Alumnus Scott Fergusson, 1998 ADE, has played an active role in bringing a start-up enterprise with plans for ale cider production to Angola. The company will have sales and distribution throughout the United States. Fergusson has used the business to teach KSB students about business creation, and will continue to use it as a teaching tool for business growth.
