Where’s Andrew Morris, ′04 Golf Management Major?
Andrew Morris, a 2004 golf management alumnus, has landed the job of his dreams at Acushnet Company (Titleist and FootJoy).
“My college experience definitely helped prepare me for the work force,” Morris said. “For me, some of the skills Tri–State helped me develop or refine were my time management skills, public speaking, business writing, etc.”
Morris said his classes were very challenging at times but it made him realize how thankful he was to receive such a quality education.
“The hard work never stops though,” Morris said. “You′ve got to continue to learn, grow, and improve yourself even after college years because if you don′t, somebody else will.”
While in college, Morris lived in Fort Wayne and commuted to campus. “As a result, I wasn′t able to get involved in as many campus activities as I would have liked to, but I really enjoyed my time playing on the golf team under Coach Bill SanGiacomo,” Morris said. “The team was always very competitive, and the friendships I established while playing were the best part of my college experience.”
One of Morris’ fondest memories from campus was when former PGA champion Ken Venturi spoke to students in the golf management program.
“It was great to have someone with his resumé and love for the game come and share that with us,” said Morris, who also enjoyed time at Zollner Golf Course with his teammates and coaches.
Morris is most passionate about his Christian faith and relationship with his wife of a year and a half.
“As much as I travel, time spent with her is my No. 1 priority when I′m home,” Morris said. “I still love playing golf, but find myself spending the majority of my free time at the lake with my family. My wife is a musician, and we both love music so we also find ourselves going to almost every country concert that comes to town.”
