It has been a fantastic summer at Trine University, and it’s only getting better! On Aug. 3 over 200 alumni and friends joined us at Zollner Golf Course for the 22nd annual Alumni & Friends Golf Outing. If you love to golf, or if you just like being on the course to experience nature, I encourage you to plan on attending next year’s event on Aug. 2, 2013.
Now that fall is quickly approaching, we are in the planning stages for homecoming! Mark your calendar for Oct. 5-6. Homecoming weekend is one of the busiest and definitely most fun weekends on campus. We welcome our alumni home, and also host a visit day for prospective students, as well as the families of current students for family weekend! There’s a wide variety of activities for everyone in the family!
The weekend festivities will begin Friday night with a homecoming dinner – an evening of fellowship and celebration of outstanding alumni. It is also at homecoming dinner that new members are inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. After enjoying a great dinner, you’re invited to head over the Fabiani Theater, where the office of student services will host comedian Jonny Cardinale. What a great way to kick off the weekend – a wonderful dinner and great laughs.
If you can’t make it to Friday’s events, wear your comfy shoes because Saturday is going to be a fabulous day of fun! Get to campus early and stop at the alumni registration table, where you can register for a tour and pick up your scavenger hunt ticket! New this year, the scavenger hunt will be open to all ages and will be a great way for you to get out and see parts of campus you haven’t seen in a while. Before watching the Thunder take on Albion College, take your family to the ThunderZone where there will be a band, sport challenges, food vendors, inflatables and so much more!
After the game, enjoy an Italian dinner in Whitney Commons, and then catch a soccer game or two as the women’s and men’s soccer teams play under the lights on Shive Field at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.
If you haven’t been on campus in a while, or if you were just here last week, make plans to join us for homecoming 2012. Visit www.trine.edu/homecoming for more information and a full schedule of events. I hope to see you there!
Until next time!
P.S. If you are able to make time in your schedule, I encourage you to visit The Depot Grill, Trine University’s newest dining facility. The décor takes you back in time, and the food is phenomenal!
