Free holiday concert draws many to Fabiani Theatre
Trine University packed the house with holiday celebrants Sunday, as a standing–room–only crowd gathered in Fabiani Theatre for a free Holiday Community Concert.
The university′s Chamber Orchestra and University Choir entertained with a program of lively holiday music from 3–4 p.m., and light refreshments were served after the concert. A jovial Santa Claus mixed with the crowd to greet folks and spread the holiday cheer.
Other activities also took place in the University Center mall and dining facility. Many concert–goers moved on to Whitney Commons to enjoy a bountiful holiday buffet of traditional favorites.
Visitors also browsed a University Center mall display of 48 four–foot Christmas trees decorated by Trine student groups and departments, using the ballots and boxes provided to vote for their favorites. A prize from the Office of Student Life went to the winner′s decorators. After the viewing and competition, all decorated trees were donated to Project Help, Steuben County′s food and clothing bank, for distribution to area families.
Visitors asked to donate new toys to Project Help for needy local children at Christmas time responded with a bounty of gifts.
