Trine student Kylie Canales

Through the generosity of our alumni, parents and friends, the fall Phonathon raised $152,000. Three gracious alums also offered up to $20,000 to match donations from those who increased their pledge amounts from last year. Of the total, $12,000 was generated from supporters with matching gift programs at their companies. We also received support from over 200 new contributors this year. The Phonathon′s mission is to strengthen relationships between Trine University and its supporters while generating financial support for our Annual Fund.

The program employs trained student callers from Trine, and offers an opportunity to ask questions, give suggestions, update contact information and make an annual pledge of support. The continued success of this program is a direct result of the hard working and dedicated student callers and the kindness of our supporters.

With the dollars raised, the university will be able to enhance the quality of education students receive. Student callers heard many positive comments from alumni, reminiscing about their time on campus and requesting updates on former professors.

Senior chemical engineering student Kylie Canales has worked during the spring and fall Phonathons for the past three years. "Every semester I look forward to working the phones, talking to alums and hearing their stories. They ask me questions about campus life and we compare the campus from then and now. It′s exciting to know that I am helping generate money for student scholarships. It′s a great experience!" Canales said. Callers received many comments from alums who want to give back. So many received opportunities to help lower their tuition costs when they were students, and wish to carry the tradition forward.

Trine University appreciates all of the alumni, friends and families who spent time speaking with our students and pledged their support. If we were unable to reach you by phone and you would like to donate, please visit www.trine.edu/give or phone the Office of Alumni and Development at 260.665.4114.
