Engineering conferences set for April

Trine University will host two engineering conferences in April.

The annual Illinois/Indiana section of the American Society of Engineering Education 2013 regional conference is set for April 6 and the American Society of Civil Engineering Great Lakes Student Conference is April 20.

The theme for the ASEE conference is "Engineering Education Collaboration – An emerging opportunity for strategic partnerships."

Among topics to be included are global sustainability, women in engineering, energy conversion and conversation, biomedical engineering, and engineering innovation and competitiveness. For a complete list of topics, information about submitting work or registration, go to

Participants may submit papers or posters. Early registration deadline is March 8, registration is March 8–29 and onsite registration will also be offered.

Nearly 500 students from 18 colleges and universities are anticipated for the ASCE conference.

Trine is seeking alumni and industry professionals to help judge these contests: concrete canoe, steel bridge, environmental, geotechnical, surveying, technical paper and mystery design.

Annual Madrigal Dinner

The Music Department′s annual Madrigal Dinner was again successful on Nov. 17 in Ketner Hall.

Doors opened with the Ringing of the Bells and the reading of the proclamation before the festivities began.

Song, laughter and a feast of Renaissance flavor and merriment by music students and other volunteer musicians were enjoyed.
