More than 200 area women crowded Trine University’s Fabiani Theatre May 19 for northeast Indiana’s annual Women in Business Forum, where women could network, dine, attend breakout sessions and learn about area businesses.

International photojournalist Jamie Rose served as keynote speaker for the event. She took women on a visual post–collegiate journey through remote areas of Africa to the Oval Office. Intermixing humor and striking realism, Rose shared the struggles she faced to get her career off the ground.

Rose noted that having dreams is important, but taking action is the most crucial step to take. “Go and do it,” she said. “Just take the risk and do it.”

Other speakers included Kendallville, Ind., Mayor Suzanne Handshoe, Michelle Gladieux of Gladieux Consulting; Michelle Merritt, vice president of the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce; Sherry Shipley, Phd., Ketner School of Business, Trine University; Dorian Maples and Ruth Force, Dorian Maples & Associates; and Jane Schlegel, Brunswick Boat Group.

Major sponsors for the event were Regional Cancer Care Center, Angola; City of Angola; KPC Media Group and Wabash Valley Power.
