Don’t miss Trine’s athletic camps for youth

Trine University athletic staff has scheduled a variety of camps to help youngsters learn basics and improve their skills. Below are scheduled camps.

Grip It & Rip It Junior Golf Academy

June 11 to July 30, Tuesday each week
Varied times based on junior golfer's age
Zollner Golf Course

Trine University's Zollner Golf Course and the YMCA of Steuben County partner to present the Junior Golf Academy on Tuesdays from June 11 to July 30. Cost is $130 per child and children should be registered at the YMCA, 500 E. Harcourt Road, Angola. The Y is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Junior Golf Academy hours are 10 to 10:45 a.m. for children 6 to 8; 9 to 9:45 a.m. for children 9 to 11 and 8 to 8:45 a.m. for children 12 and older.

Trine University Volleyball Summer Camps for Girls

June 29-30, July 8-11, July 12-13, July 18-20
Hershey Hall

Jamie Wozniak, Trine head volleyball coach and camp director, will lead the camps. She will be assisted by collegiate players and local high school and area club coaches.

Attacking, Setting and Defensive Overnight Camp
for girls entering eighth through 12th grades
June 29-30 or July 12-13, check-in begins at 5 p.m. and clinic begins at 6 p.m.
Cost is $135 for overnight campers, $120 for commuter campers
These camps focus on developing proper techniques and mindset of successful setters, attackers or defensive players.
Overnight campers will be supervised and stay in air-conditioned apartment-style housing.

Attacking, Setting and Defensive Specialty Camps
for experienced players entering seventh through 12th grades
Attacking - July 18, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Setting/Middle Hitting - July 19, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Defensive/Passing/Serving - July 20, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Cost is $60 per camp or $150 for all three camps
These camps will focus on developing the proper techniques and mindset of successful attackers, setters or defensive and passing players.

Middle School Camp
for girls entering sixth through ninth grades
July 18-20, 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday, 12:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday
Cost is $150 for the three-day camp and $175 with meals
Camp is designed to give players a well-rounded knowledge of the game of volleyball and prepare athletes for a school tryout.

Youth Camp
for girls entering third to sixth grades
July 8-11, 6 to 8 p.m.
Cost is $60
This camp is designed to introduce youngsters to the sport of volleyball.

Trine Cheerleading Team Summer Camps

July 22-24
Hershey Hall

Overnight camp is July 22-24. Cost is $175 per participant and includes food and residence hall facilities. Registration deadline is July 8.
Pick your own date and design your own camp for $65 per participant. Two- and three-day options are available and the Trine cheer squad and coach Chambers come to your location. Cost includes team awards and a memory DVD.

Hoosier Basketball Boys Camp

July 14-17
Hershey Hall

Join Brooks Miller, head coach of Trine men's basketball, and his staff for the basketball camp for boys age 8 to 17.
Cost is $280 for campers who plan to stay in counselor-supervised housing at Trine and $225 for nonresident participants. Each participant gets a certificate, T-shirt, basketball and copies of drills and skill-improving ideas.
