2010-11 Thunder Cheerleading Squad

The Thunder cheerleading squad are among the most active and visible groups on campus, Ind.cluding cheering or dancing on the sidelines at football and basketball games, making public appearances at community and regional events.

The Thunder cheerleading squad consists of a group of young men and women who enjoy promoting school spirit, creating enthusiasm and entertaining fans at Thunder athletic events. The audience is treated to big basket tosses, partner stunts, and distinctive routines. They provide sideline entertainment and half-time performances.

2010-2011 Outlook

The 2010-2011 squad will see another talented freshman class. This year the Thunder Cheerleaders are returning 16 upperclassmen and bringing in 9 freshmen.

The squad has another active year planned. They will again be representing Trine University in the annual College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Parade this summer in South Bend. This summer squad members will be coaching regional camps for area middle school students. Likewise, the Trine University Cheerleaders will be attending a UCA sponsored cheer camp late this summer. As the cheerleading program continues to grow, Ind. the near future Trine University plans to compete at the national level.

The focus of the cheerleading squad is to support Thunder Athletics. While the squad attends all home football games, we will travel with the team to several away contests.

Coaches

Kasey Jones enters her third season as coach for the Trine University Cheerleaders and her fourth year working in the Office of Admission at Trine.

Over the course of two years as coach, Coach Jones has been able to recruit 19 athletes to the Thunder Cheerleading Squad. The current goal of the squad is to be able to compete on a national level. They are currently trying to raise funds for training and equipment.

Coach Jones has several years of cheerleading experience and coaching experience. While at Ball State University she received a minor in Coaching and began assisting with many different sports. This year she was awarded The Presidential Award for Excellence in Performance based on her work with the cheerleading squad.

Schedule

The Thunder Cheerleaders attend all home football and all men′s and women′s basketball games. This year we are again hopeful to be attending select away football games. Come back in the fall to see what away games we′ll be attending.
