Athletic Facilites

Hershey Hall

At the center of Trine University's athletics is the Hershey Hall athletic facility, named in honor of Gen. Lewis B. Hershey. One of the best small school athletic facilities in the Midwest, Hershey Hall has a main basketball court that seats 4,500, an indoor walking track, two auxiliary gymnasiums, four volleyball courts, racquetball courts, a free-weight room and a fitness center. Hershey Hall has been the site of numerous championships including the men's volleyball MIVA championships and the women's volleyball NAIA bi-district playoffs. In March of 1996 and 1997, Hershey Hall was the site of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship games featuring the top 32 teams in the country.

Ketner Sports Center

The Ketner Sports Center is the newest addition to the Hershey Hall facilities. The center consists of tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts. It will provide additional facilities to be used for classes, intramurals, varsity teams, camps, and student use. The Ketner Sports Center was made possible through the generosity of Dr. Ralph and Anne Ketner and was dedicated on October 2, 2004 .

Shive Field

A Trine University trustee and alumnus decided that it was time for the Thunder football team to come home. Wayne Shive, president and chairman of Lifeline Corp, Fort Wayne, Ind., provided the lead gift toward the construction of a home football field. An official groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the 2,500 seat football field was held on November 3, 1998, and the Thunder's first home game was in the fall of 1999.

Jannen Field

Trine University's men's baseball field, located behind Shive Field, received a new look during the summer of 2005. A new backstop with a three-foot high brick wall was constructed because of the generous support of Dr. Robert (Class of 1950) and Dolores Jannen, of Naples, Florida. The field will be dedicated during Homecoming 2005.
Softball Field

The Trine University softball field is one of the nicest in the region as fans are able to enjoy the beauty of Zollner Golf Course over the right field fence. The infield was completely remodeled in 2006 with improved drainage and an installed sprinkler system. The Thunder have taken advantage of the new field with a home record of 20-4 over the last two seasons.

Soccer Field

Trine University's women's and men's soccer teams play their home games on one of the finest soccer fields in the NCAA III. The field is nestled in the middle of a excellent athletic complex that includes Zollner Golf Course, soccer practice fields, baseball and softball fields, football practice field, football stadium and the Hershey Hall athletic facility. The dorms are also within walking distance. The soccer field, softball and baseball fields are located behind Shive Field on the Trine campus.

Zollner Golf Course

Trine University's Zollner Golf Course was established in 1971 as a gift from the University's Board of Trustees. Zollner has been the site of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics golf championships, Indiana PGA Assistant championships, and qualifications for the Indiana Open. We are currently constructing a fully informative site on the beautiful Zollner Golf Course.
