Distinguished Speaker Series
Dane Miller, Ph.D., will speak in Fabiani, and all are welcome to attend. Miller served as CEO of Bio met for 28 years, during which time the company experienced amazing growth .In 2001, Forbes.com reported its findings from its First Annual CEO Value Survey. It looked at 278 Forbes 500 CEOs. The No. 1 ranking went to
Warren Buffett with Berkshire Hathaway. Miller came in at No. 4.

Overlooked Film Festival: "Margin Call"
The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Margin Call." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. An ensemble cast featuring Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Jeremy Irons, Stanley Tucci and Paul Bettany gives an inside look at an investment bank on the eve of the financial crisis. One of the best reviewed films of the year questions what motivates us, and do we know our own ethical breaking points? (1:47, rated R)

Soul Food Fest
The public is welcome to join the Trine community for a generous buffet of traditional recipes created and recognized by African-Americans. The menu includes Tennessee fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits and country gravy, cheddar jalapeno beer brats, fried catfish, slow-smoked Memphis brisket, okra with remoulade sauce, deep south gumbo, barbecued chicken pizza, pecan pie, banana short cake and red velvet cake.

Open Mic Night
All are welcome as the Multicultural Student Organization (MSO) hosts this annual event in Fabiani Theatre at 7 p.m. You will be free to watch or perform poetry, spoken word or sing a capella Prizes will be awarded. The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Attack the Block." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. This is not your ordinary alien invasion film. When something falls from the sky, a gang of South London teens will take up whatever arms they can to defend their block. A high-energy action film with wit to spare. (1:28, rated R)

All are welcome to attend this free program in Fabiani Theatre. Faye Williams-Robbins, Ph.D.,will present “Living King’s Legacy: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century." Following her presentation, the Imani Baptist Temple Praise Ensemble will perform and Trine students will give presentations.

Humanities Symposia: "Data Visualization"
All are welcome to join Dan Matthews as he presents “Data Visualization: The New Tech Art Form” in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. Data has been often referred to as the “new oil” because of its value and importance in the 21st century. It has also been referred to as the "new soil" as so many new ways exist to visually present information that is grown from this new soil. This session will demonstrate visualizations that are pleasant to the eye and yet convey interesting information that can be interpreted from the visualizations.

The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Take Shelter." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. A modern day prophet takes the form of a young father in Ohio. When he begins to see apocalyptic visions, is it scarier to find out that they're real or that he's losing his grip on sanity? A palpable sense of dread looms over this film like the coming storm he envisions. (2:00, rated R)

Humanities Symposia: "The Investigation of Object TH1988.18"
All are welcome to join Sarah Zimmer as she discusses “The Investigation of Object TH1988.18: Rembrandt’s Guilder Print” in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. The 2008 discovery of a missing etching of Rembrandt Van Rijn is the focus of this session. What began as a task to locate several missing art works within an institution's collection ultimately generated controversy, secrecy and threats. This investigation uses Rembrandt as a model to explore different systems of value.

The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Our Idiot Brother." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. The Beatles told us no one bothers with the fool on the hill, but what about when that fool is your brother? Three high-strung sisters see their lives turned upside-down when their stoner brother shows up. The cast includes Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer. (1:30, rated R)

Humanities Symposia: "The Rhetoric of Food"
All are welcome to join Don Jones, Ph.D., who will look at “The Rhetoric of Food" in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. Rhetoric (the persuasive use of symbols) constitutes or creates our understandings of reality, including what is "food." He will discuss how rhetoric and public relations changed the way Americans perceive "food" and the way American's eat.

Overlooked Film Festival: "Higher Ground "
The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Higher Ground." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air) both directs and stars in this story of a woman's lifelong struggle with faith. Based on Carolyn Briggs' memoir, it's the rare film about religion that succeeds in walking the delicate line between proselytizing and condescending, while treating its characters with respect. (1:49, rated R)

Humanities Symposia: "The Holocaust: Before They Killed the Jews"
All are welcome to join Neil Shamberg as he discusses “The Holocaust: Before They Killed the Jews” in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. He will describe some early antecedents of the mass murder of the Jews, in 1939 (before World War II began in Germany) with children, the most defenseless segment of the already vulnerable group. These early programs will be outlined in some detail.

Overlooked Film Festival: "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil"
The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. Tucker and Dale are just your stereotypical rednecks on vacation at their cabin in the woods when a group of teenagers suddenly attacks them. This horror-comedy deftly works its way through every horror cliche in the book while treating its titular characters with a warmth rarely seen in such films. (1:29, rated R)

Humanities Symposia: "Japanese Culture: How I Won the War"
All are welcome to join Sean Wagner when he gives a presentation, “Japanese Culture: How I Won the War,” in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. He will discuss navigating everyday life in Japan from life at home, work or school or in the community to getting around and being a gaikokujin. This session will offer a glimpse of some of the Japanese cultural norms that guide interaction.

The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Trust." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. A tough, unflinching look at the darkness that child predators bring into families. Annie is a teenager not dissimilar from many of her peers, but when she meets a strange new friend online, will this person turn out to be something much darker than she or her parents can imagine? Humanities Symposia: "Frida Kahlo: Painting Her Reality"
All are welcome to join Ana Boman as she discusses “Frida Kahlo: Painting Her Reality”in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. Mexican artist and painter Frida Kahlo is one of the most important female artists of the 20th century. Although she had a controversial existence, filled with passion and physical suffering, her legacy will live on forever.

The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "The Muppets." All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal and the whole gang are back. But does a modern world care about the Muppets anymore? Their old studio is set to be destroyed and only their biggest fan can help save it. (1:43, rated PG).

The Overlooked Film Festival continues with "Warrior" All are welcome to attend this free showing in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola. Two brothers from Pittsburgh are torn apart by a father's (Nick Nolte) alcoholism and go their separate ways. years later, training for a mixed martial arts tournament will set them on a collision course for a showdown both in and outside the ring. (2:20, rated PG-13)

Humanities Symposia: James Joyce, Dive into Darkness"
All are welcome to join John M. McGrath as he presents “James Joyce, Dive into Darkness,” in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall on the main campus in Angola. Psychiatrist Carl Jung observed that Lucia Joyce "fell" into schizophrenia while James Joyce chose to "dive" into it. In this session, McGrath reflects on the progress of Joyce's life from incredible possibilities to struggles to survive, and his descent into blindness and dependence.
