Selected Students
Selected Students and Parents/Guardians
Students will be staying in Widmann Hall during the 2–week camp, and all meals are provided in our dining facility, Whitney Commons. All facilities are air–conditioned and well–staffed for student safety.
Students will be expected to remain on-campus for the duration of the camp, with exception of the weekend of July 17-19 when all students will return home before the final week.
Dr. Bernard Harris, a former NASA astronaut and founder of the Harris Foundation, is planning a visit to Trine University on July 17, 2009. All students at the camp will have a chance to meet and talk with him about his life, his time in space, and his drive to succeed. This is an amazing opportunity for students! Parents/Guardians and family members are welcome to attend this event in Ketner Sports Center.
Parents/Guardians of selected applicants are expected to attend the Opening Sessions on Sunday, July 12 and Sunday, July 19, in order for them to help their child move–in to the residence hall and to sign important paperwork. Arrangements should be made for the parent/guardian to return on Friday, July 17 and Friday, July 24, in order to check–out from the residence hall and to attend the Graduation Ceremony scheduled for July 24.
In preparation for camp, students and parents/guardians should discuss how the student will deal with being away from home and expectations for behavior at an academic camp. We will have many adults and resources available to all the campers in case of homesickness or inappropriate behavior.
We are very excited to see you on the campus of Trine University on July 12! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions: e-mail us or (260)665-4307.
