It is a great honor for me to serve the students at Trine University and teach the next generation of educators. At Trine, you will find me teaching reading, science and math methodology courses to elementary education majors. My teaching philosophy is a student-centered, hands-on approach to learning. My areas of interest include parental involvement in rural schools and improving literacy skills for all learners.
The beginning of my educational background leads me back to my hometown of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. I earned my B.S., M.Ed. and Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University. In 2017, I obtained my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Indiana State University. My previous teaching experiences include middle school mathematics, Title-I Reading Interventionist and elementary educator.
I currently reside in Angola with my husband, who is also a Trine professor and dean of the Allen School of Engineering and Computing, Ryan Overton. We enjoy attending Trine sporting events and on-campus activities to support Trine student life. Outside of Trine, my time is spent chasing around two small children, Annie and Andrew, and traveling down south to the beautiful mountains of Tennessee.
