I spent many years as a bedside nurse in neurosurgical intensive care, cardiac care and stroke care. I enjoyed mentoring student nurses, leading me to further education and an amazing career as a nurse educator. I have been in education for 14 years, teaching across disciplines (nursing and special education) and programs. Education has offered me the opportunity to create curricula and participate in program evaluation and accreditation. I have worked in ASN, BSN, RN-BSN and MSN (education and leadership) programs.
I always believed that the teacher should show respect for the students (and vice versa) and provide a stimulating atmosphere for intellectual learning. Through a caring attitude and a supportive environment, I want to help students meet their fullest potential by sharing ideas, asking questions and gaining knowledge. For me, teaching provides an opportunity for continuous learning and growth. I encourage further education and share my passion for learning with students. Teaching allows me to provide students with the tools to become the best nurses possible.
Outside of education, my husband and I travel and enjoy time with our family.
