The Experience

You will be guided by faculty with relevant industry experience that apply engineering concepts through hands-on lab experiences. You will participate in an abundance of group projects and many of our students pursue internships and co-ops. Students enjoy the most modern, advanced resources that include a plastics engineering and processing center, plastics testing lab, advanced manufacturing lab, Rapid Prototyping lab, and state-of-the-art computer centers and classrooms.

The Results

The great success of our alumni in industry demonstrates the tremendous value of the broad educational, technical, and business-related opportunities the program offers. The placement rate of 100 percent for the last four years and starting salaries that average $62,000, with many approaching $80,000, continue to show the great return on this investment in your future. The high quality of the program continues to prepare students to enter and succeed in various industries including aerospace, automotive, plastics, biomedical and many others with a wide variety of specializations and leadership roles.


Additional Information

The Bachelor of Science in Design Engineering Technology has opportunities for internships and co-operative employment for those interested in gaining an applied engineering experience in industry. Students in the Co-operative Employment Program alternate semesters working with a partner company at their facility for one semester, and taking classes the next. A minimum of three work assignments is required to complete the program.

Typical initial assignments include updating engineering drawings, creating solid models from existing drawings, running a routine test or monitoring the quality of manufactured products. Typical final assignments include designing a new product or process, developing and supervising a test procedure, or developing and implementing a quality control program.
