Our Identity
The Department of Humanities and Communication draws together a group of faculty with diverse backgrounds. Those backgrounds allow us to bring unique specialties to the classroom and not only meet students where they are now, but also assist them in getting to where they want to be.
Of course, the same is true of our students. They arrive with varied backgrounds from diverse locations around the country and the world. Being a small department at a small, private university allows us to tailor experiences to best suit individual student needs.
Both of our programs, English and communication, seek to understand the transformative power of media, literature, film, composition, art, and other forms of the humanities. In a rapidly changing world dominated by technology, we believe it is more important than ever to deliver messages effectively and also to understand the perspectives of others, no matter which medium they’re delivered through.
