Summary

The Director of Admission has the responsibility for supervising, maintaining and planning the day-to-day admission operations for their assigned academic programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Admission is the first point of contact that a prospective online students has with the College of Graduate and Professional Studies (TrineOnline). This position plays a vital role in assisting online students with achieving their educational goals. The goal of this position is to recruit online students for acceptance and enroll them into their chosen online degree program. It is the responsibility of the Director of Admission to educate prospective online students on the college and its admissions requirements.

The Director of Admission is responsible for attracting and recruiting prospective online undergraduate and graduate students who meet the admissions requirements of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies (TrineOnline). The Director of Admission has the responsibility of meeting semester goals along with inquiring on student referrals. It is necessary for the Director of Admission to follow-up on all leads and questions with an immediate turnaround, while maintaining honesty and professionalism. The Director of Admission must provide outstanding service and assistance to all prospective online students assigned to them.

The Director of Admission is also responsible for scheduling and maintaining daily and long-term admission activities for their assigned academic programs. This includes developing relationships with regional community colleges, businesses, and organizational leaders to develop partnerships and training opportunities with Trine University. The development of corporate partnerships with Trine University (TrineOnline) to provide regional and national employers with educational opportunities with the university is a primary role for the Director of Admission.

This role assists with one-to-one recruitment and assists prospective online students with completing the application, acquiring necessary admission documents, and guiding them on financial aid availability and processing. This position takes incoming calls and makes outbound calls to/from prospective online students. Additionally, the Director of Admission is responsible for the conversion of prospective online student across the applicant life cycle, from inquiry generation through student matriculation.

In collaboration with team members, the Director of Admission annually develops a marketing plan to recruit new online students for their assigned academic programs, which analyzes the Trine regional market and includes goal projections.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to work independently and manage time effectively. Individuals must have strong customer service skills and be able to professionally communicate both written and verbally. Individuals must be able to convey enthusiasm and have a positive attitude.

A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to do significant traveling within the region.  Experience working with computers is necessary and knowledge of software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Jenzabar/EX, Slate, etc.) is a plus.  Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, a degree in a field related to business administration preferred, and five or more years of successful admission or related experience and/or training preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Excellent oral communication skills are required and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of prospective students, managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
