Trine hopes to introduce girls to engineering disciplines

ANGOLA, Ind. – Middle school girls can participate in free activities to learn about engineering during Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Trine University. The event takes place during National Engineering Week, Feb. 17-23.

Trine's chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has planned the event for girls in grades five to eight who have an interest in math, science and engineering. SWE, as well as campus chapters of professional societies in chemical, mechanical, electrical, aeronautical and other engineering disciplines, will host hands-on activities from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The activities are designed to educate girls about the different disciplines of engineering.

Boys in grades five to eight are also welcome to participate in the free event.

Middle schoolers should dress for play and wear close-toed shoes; safety glasses will be provided.
