Trine sets Lego Kids Camps
ANGOLA, Ind. – Challenges in a fun way are on tap during Lego Robotics Kids Camps offered this summer throughout Indiana by Trine University's School of Professional Studies. The camps provide an opportunity for children to learn about science, technology, teamwork and problem-solving through robotics.
Mindstorm® Education! is geared for children ages 6 to 12. Mindstorm® Green City! is offered to youth ages 8 to 14. Participants in the Mindstorm® Green City camp must have previously attended the Education! Camp or be at least 12 years of age.
The Education camp exposes children to basic robotics via Lego Mindstorms and is designed to cultivate an interest in technology and science. By starting out with what is referred to as a programmable brick and adding wheels, gears, levers and pulleys; students will learn how to build simple machines and mechanisms.
The Green City camp teaches children the theme of renewable energy and introduces students to the world of robotics by exploring basic programming maneuvers and using Green City training mats. Green City will challenge students to apply their programming and problem-solving skills by making their robots solve real-life engineering problems, each environmentally focused. Students will use their imaginations to build power plants, dams and wind turbines.
The Lego camps are offered through early August at Trine's SPS campus in Angola and SPS regional campuses in Fort Wayne, Avon, Logansport, Mishawaka, Schererville, Warsaw and Sturgis, Mich. Cost is $100 for camps that run three hours each day on Monday through Thursday.
