Two concerts set for weekend
DEC. 4 -- Everyone is reminded of two opportunities for live entertainment this weekend with the Applied Studies Recital on Saturday and the annual Christmas show on Sunday afternoon.
The Applied Studies Recital at 3 p.m. Saturday will feature voice and piano students performing works by Schubert, Schumann, Durante and others. Contemporary pieces will be presented as well, including an arrangement of a Bruno Mars song.
The University Choir, Musical Theatre/Opera Ensemble and the Chamber Orchestra will present their annual Community Musical Christmas Show at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. As always, the show will wrap up with a Christmas sing-along and the audience will be encouraged to join in singing the traditional carols “Joy to the World,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Silent Night.”
Both shows will take place in Ryan Concert Hall, T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, 500 W. Maumee St.
After the concert, the holiday magic will continue at the Rick L. and Vicki L. James University Center. Guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat holiday dinner by Bon Appetit at Whitney Commons, starting at 5 p.m. Cost is $12.29 for adults, $6.14 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger.
After dinner, all are invited to walk through the University Center to see more than 35 trees decorated for the holiday season by Trine University clubs, organizations and offices. The trees will be donated to local families through Project Help. To get involved with Trine’s holiday donations to Project Help, community members may bring a pair of new socks to the holiday concert.
