Webcam for MTI Center construction online

Trine University now has a webcam with a live feed of construction progress for the new MTI Center, which is scheduled to open in January 2018.

The view from the webcam is available at trine.edu/webcam along with feeds from webcams showing the progress on the expansion of Best Hall of Science and the construction of the Thunder Ice Arena.

The MTI Center, with a cost estimated at $13.3 million, will include three basketball courts, a fitness center, pro shop, bowling alley, esports arena, banquet room and bar, outdoor patio, offices and a training room.

Site work and demolition of the Witmer Clubhouse were scheduled to begin when Zollner Golf Course closed for the season on Nov. 1. The course will reopen in March, weather permitting, with the pro shop and clubhouse located in temporary facilities near Trine University’s Hershey Hall for the 2017 season.

The pro shop and clubhouse eventually will become part of the MTI Center.

The Best Hall expansion is scheduled to open in January 2017 and will add 26,000 square feet to the building, including seven laboratories, 12 offices and group study spaces.

The Thunder Ice Arena will open in fall 2017 and will be the home for Trine University’s men’s and women’s hockey teams. The arena also will host club and youth hockey programs for the Steuben County YMCA and local school corporations, and will be open to the public for skating at designated times.
