Trine jazz ensembles present free concert Nov. 6

Trine University’s jazz ensembles will present their fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Ryan Concert Hall of the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The selections to be performed by the Big Band include “Autumn Leaves” by Joseph Kosma and “The Girl From Ipanema” by Antonio Carlos Jobim. “Night and Day” by Cole Porter and “Out of Nowhere” by Johnny Green are among the works to be performed by the Jazz Combo.

Trine University’s jazz ensembles are directed by Prof. Brian Derek. The students who make up the ensembles are:

  • Colleen Pepple from Columbia City, Indiana, a sophomore majoring in marketing;
  • Joshua Dick from South Bend, Indiana, a freshman majoring in electrical engineering;
  • Joel Galloy from Glenwood, Illinois, a freshman majoring in chemical engineering;
  • Trenton Jensen from New Paris, Indiana, a freshman majoring in chemical engineering;
  • John Milostan from Bluffton, Indiana, a junior majoring in electrical engineering;
  • Marc Tuholski from LaPorte, Indiana, a freshman majoring in electrical engineering;
  • Casey Wharton from Crystal Lake, Illinois, a sophomore majoring in accounting;
  • Joshua Simmons from Wyandotte, Michigan, a senior majoring in chemical engineering;
  • Joshua Bowman from Zionsville, Indiana, a junior majoring in chemical engineering;
  • Isaac Nice from Paulding, Ohio, a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering; and
  • Zachary Nicholas from Camby, Indiana, a sophomore majoring in design engineering technology.
