Heather Kim named assistant vice president for Trine Peoria
JAN. 6 -- Trine University has selected an experienced professional in higher education to lead its campus in Peoria, Ariz.
West Valley, Ariz., resident Heather A. Kim is the new assistant vice president for Trine University Peoria. She began her duties Monday.
“We are pleased to have a proven leader such as Ms. Kim join our Peoria campus,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine University president. “Her experience in diverse facets of higher education are an asset to our growing campus, especially as more domestic and international students enroll and begin their studies.”
Kim has worked in the field of higher education for 19 years. She has served in various leadership positions overseeing enrollment, student services and marketing at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.; Thunderbird School of Global Management, Glendale, Ariz.; Midwestern University, Glendale and Arizona Christian University, Phoenix.
Prior to her career in higher education, she was employed for 10 years in sales and marketing for Continental Airlines in Los Angeles and Indianapolis.
Kim earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University.
Married for 24 years, she and her husband Darryl are the parents of 21-year-old twins, a daughter and son. They are members of Christ Church of the Valley in Peoria. In her free time, she enjoys travel, reading and entertaining.
Trine University Peoria is a partnership with the City of Peoria that serves students in the West Valley and offers associate, bachelor and master degrees in 34 areas of study. Trine Peoria, which opened in spring 2013, is a transfer partner with Maricopa Community Colleges.
Offered are a variety of majors, including engineering, in areas aligned with Peoria’s 2010 Higher Education Feasibility Study and Economic Development Implementation Strategy. In addition to electrical engineering and design engineering technology, Trine offers bachelor degrees in applied management, business administration, computer science, criminal justice, general studies and psychology. Trine also offers master’s degrees in business, criminal justice, engineering and leadership.
