Putra International College hosts first Sports Day
AYER KEROH, Melaka, Malaysia — Putra International College, an international partner with Trine University, hosted about 2,000 students and guests for its first Putra Sports Day in August.
Mark Roselli, Trine University’s director of global partnerships, participated in the event along with some of the Trine students completing degrees at Putra. Trine sports apparel also made an appearance.
Designed to promote sports, holistic education and healthy living, the Sports Day, held in the city of Ayer Keroh, drew from 88 public and private secondary schools. Jabatan Pendidikan Melaka, a Malaysian organization that recognizes the role of sports among youth, also supported the event.
More than 30 schools competed in futsal, a form of indoor soccer, while other schools participated in freestyle dance, sports poster and short video competitions. Younger children took part in a sports-themed coloring competition. The day also featured games and a food carnival.
