Trine statement calls for nation to come together for justice, equality
Trine University President Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., has issued the following statement to the university community on the tragic death of George Floyd and the resulting calls for legal and social reform across the United States:
We join with others throughout the nation – and the world – who are both saddened and angered by the death of George Floyd and its horrible reminder of the many similar tragic deaths of African-Americans that have come before. But, over the last several days, we have also been uplifted to see how supporters and peaceful protesters, representing all races and creeds, have come together to share their dreams for a brighter tomorrow, one that is founded on justice and fairness for all. We share this strong desire.
This is a time to hear each other. To see each other. To care for each other. And this is the time to come together and create the actual systemic changes required to move the nation toward one that values all of its citizens equally and builds on the strengths that exist in all of us.
Our mission is to educate students who will succeed, lead and serve. Our promise is to keep working to build a better, more humane, world.
