Trine University’s Zollner Golf Course to open May 1
Zollner Golf Course, located on the campus of Trine University, will open this weekend, focused both on ensuring a great golf experience and protecting the health and safety of golfers.
The course will open Friday, May 1, and golf carts — limited to one rider per cart — will be available. For the first two weeks, the course will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Our customers’ health and safety are the top priorities here at Zollner,” said Jonathan Busscher, PGA, director of golf operations at Trine. “We are taking every precaution to ensure the cleanest and safest environment for our guests.”
According to Busscher, precautions include deep sanitizing of the facility each day, sanitizing each cart every morning with disinfectant spray, spacing out tee times and encouraging golfers to call ahead to pre-pay for their rounds, eliminating the need to even enter the pro shop. All 18 holes are touch-free, and clubhouse food will be available only as take-out.
“We’ve used the last few weeks to make sure that the course and our operations are optimized for these difficult times,” said Busscher. “We’ve been able to learn best practices from courses all over the country, and the result will be a great experience that fully respects and conforms to state and federal health guidelines.”
An 18-hole championship course appreciated for its beautifully landscaped undulating fairways, scenic views and hilly terrain, Zollner Golf Course was rated the sixth-best collegiate course in the nation earlier this year by reviewers on the GOLF Advisor website.
For more information, or to book a tee time, golfers are encouraged to visit the Zollner Golf Course at trine.edu/zollnergc or call the pro shop at 260-665-4269.
