International Admissions Counselor
Working with the international admission staff from the main Trine University campus in Angola, Indiana and reporting to the Executive Director, Office of International Services, the International Admissions Counselor is responsible for the collection and processing of international applications, including admission review, transcript evaluation, scholarship awarding, and initial I-20 preparation. Understands and keeps abreast of university admission requirements as well as special requirements within individual colleges. Prepares transcripts from both foreign and domestic institutions for transfer credit evaluation. Ensures that correct admission letter and scholarship are issued and awarded. Responds to all inquiries from prospective international students. Communicates effectively and promptly vital information to prospective students via email, phone, Skype, etc. Updates students on their status and encourages them to complete the next stage in the process. Meets with prospective students and parents during on-campus visits. May travel domestically or internationally to participate in international student recruitment activities. Works closely with the Executive Director, the Office of International Services, the Office of Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, and the Business Office. Participates in university recruitment efforts and outreach activities. Assists in determines application and enrollment goals. Meets weekly with OIS and the office of admissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain database of applicants and process their files
Communicate with prospective international students via telephone, e-mail, Skype, etc.
Organize and update transcripts, scores, and other documents
Maintain communications between Trine University and other international universities and partners
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, International Admissions Coordinator, Dean of Admissions, or Vice President for Enrollment Management
Education and/or Experience
High school degree is required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Preference will be given to those who have previous experience working with international students or customers and/or in a private college/university office of admission.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Review of applicants begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. This position is a full-time job with expectations of 40 hours per week. Typically Monday through Friday each day from 8AM to 12PM and 1PM to 5PM (one hour lunch). Occasional evening work may be required.
