BS in Information Systems
Information is one of the most important assets of any business or organization. Availability, management, security, and preservation of this key asset requires skilled information systems professionals. The Bachelor of science in information systems degree program offered through TrineOnline trains motivated graduates to make outstanding contributions in this essential field. The program emphasizes business computer applications, information technology infrastructure and network management. In addition, concepts of advanced database management, data visualization, and network security are studied.
Students also receive a foundation in math, statistics and operations research. Social science studies include psychology, humanities, and ethics as well as communications. Management and leadership courses are also a strong part of the program. Throughout the curriculum, there is an acknowledgment of the need to communicate well and work on multidisciplinary teams. Students are challenged with a major Information Systems Capstone project near the end of the program that involves them in the utilization of many, if not all, the necessary skills to function as an information system professional. They are ready to perform from day one as an effective team member or manager in any organizational setting.
Graduates of this information systems program will be well-qualified for a wide range of positions in the information field. These may include information management, network security analyst or network administrator, database administrator, and many others. The degree also prepares students for graduate school programs including those in the computer and information field, the Master of Business Administration, or the Lou Holtz Master of Science in Organizational Leadership.
