It is exciting to join the Trine University team as an Assistant Professor of accounting. My industry experience ranges from small to medium-size business bookkeeping, tax preparation for individuals and small companies (including excise taxes) and consulting work at various levels. I bring 18 years of experience doing taxes of various types, 16 years of that included small business bookkeeping, and 15 years of that included teaching in higher education. I am even certified as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
My philosophy of teaching is to cultivate an approachable, communicative environment where students can learn using mixed instructional methods while integrating the understanding of the idea of lifelong learning. I love to tell stories of past experiences from either myself or others. My goal is to help students understand challenging material in a memorable way. I also strive to help students break down concepts in step-by-step formats to help them recognize how something is done while understanding the why behind it.
In my spare time, I enjoy singing karaoke. Saturday nights you can find me with my laptop working on my dissertation in between karaoke songs! I also love spending time with my family and cuddling my beautiful dogs.
