Bridging theory with practice to empower the next generation of teachers lies at the heart of my teaching philosophy. I believe that effective teacher preparation extends beyond coursework — it requires fostering authentic relationships that encourage, challenge and inspire. By building strong personal connections with students, I strive to create a learning environment where they feel supported and motivated to pursue their calling as educators. Whether their path leads to becoming classroom teachers or to other roles within the broader field of educational studies, my goal is to equip each student with the knowledge, confidence and sense of purpose they need to succeed and to positively impact the lives of future learners.
As a former kindergarten and fourth grade teacher, I bring firsthand classroom experience that continues to shape my work with future educators. Those early years in the classroom instilled in me both a deep respect for the craft of teaching and a passion for preparing others to embrace its challenges and rewards. Alongside my love for teaching, I have developed a strong interest in educational research and its power to inform and improve practice.
Outside the classroom, I am an avid hiker with a passion for exploring the outdoors. I have summited peaks around the globe, from Mount Kilimanjaro to the rugged landscapes of Patagonia, and embarked on a solo hike along the Appalachian Trail for two weeks. These adventures not only fuel my spirit but also remind me of the importance of perseverance, reflection and curiosity — values I aim to instill in my students as they embark on their own journeys in education.
