Housing Application Process

New/ Scholar/Transfer Student 

Submit a $350 enrollment fee which includes $150 for the One-Time Housing Fee.

  • The Housing Department will contact you via email providing instructions to begin the housing process after the deposit has been received.

The $350 enrollment fee and the One-Time Housing Fee are non-refundable after May 1.  Both must be paid in full before a student can participate in the housing selection process.

Section 1 of the Application Opens

  • Personal Information, Housing Preferences, Roommate Search Profile, Meal Plan Selection, and Sign the Housing Contract

December 1st at 8:00 AM (EST)

  • All student classifications may begin filling out the Housing Application

Section 2 of the Application Opens

  • Roommate Group Selection and Room Selection
  • Students wishing to select their own roommates and room must do so before June 1st

February 23rd at 8:00 AM (EST)

  • Scholar Students ONLY
  • Students may view their classification on the “Personal Information” page within the application.

March 2nd at 8:00 AM (EST)

  • New and Transfer Students
    • Students may view their classification on the “Personal Information” page within the application.

Returning Student Application Timeline

Room selection is based on your expected class standing, which is determined by computing the total of your completed credits plus the credits you are enrolled in for the spring semester — NOT by how many years you have attended Trine.

Villa Applications

  • Applications open on January 9th-13th

Section 1 of the Application Opens

  • Meal Plan Selection, Sign Housing Contract, Roommate Group Creation
  • January 20th - February 8th

Section 2 of the Housing Selection

  • Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on the listed dates, groups can select rooms based on the member of the group with the lowest class standing based on credits. (See below for Expected Class Standing)
  • Senior Only Group- February 9 -10
  • Junior/Senior Group- February 11-12
  • Sophomores, Remaining, and All Mixed groups February 16-20

Students who’ve attended Trine for 4 semesters, have at least 60 credits completed and enrolled, and have a GPA of at least 2.9 are eligible to apply to live in the Villas, Condos, and Campus Houses.

Villa/Condo/House Application Opens

  • Application will open for all eligible students. 
  • Group creation. 
  • Eligible students must have: 
    • Attended at least 4 semesters at Trine. 
    • A Trine Career GPA for 2.9+.
    • A minimum of 60 expected credits.
  • January 9th - Application Opens and Group Creation begins.
  • January 13th- Application and Groups Due.

Villa Notification

  • Groups with the highest average GPA will be awarded a Villa and be notified.
  • Groups not selected for a Villa will be notified and will need to be recreated in the Housing Application for the general process (see above Returning Student Timeline)

Villa Selection

  • Those who are selected for placement will be asked to self-select their Villa at designated times created by the Housing and Res Life Department.  Selection times will be created in order from highest group GPA to lowest group GPA of the various group sizes.
