Summary:
The Trine University Music Program seeks a dynamic adjunct faculty member to lead the Jazz/Show Choir Ensemble beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct the Jazz/Show Choir in twice-weekly rehearsals, teaching proper diction, vowels, articulations, rhythms, intonation, vocal blend and balance, and color.
- Provide instruction to students with a wide range of musical backgrounds.
- Determine repertoire, prepare, and lead the ensemble in at least one public performance each semester.
- Hold ensemble placement auditions for voice at the beginning of each semester.
- Manage and organize Jazz/Show Choir Ensemble sheet music and uniforms.
- Attend Music Program department meetings.
- Work with the Director of the Music program on concert scheduling, program production, and logistics.
Additional teaching assignments may include teaching applied music lessons in voice in consultation with the Director of the Music program.
Education and/or Experience:
- Preferred:
- Master's degree in vocal performance and
- Experience working with a wide range of musical skill levels and styles, from beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in music.
- Five years of experience in ensemble direction or teaching experience at the community, university, or professional level.
- Music performance experience.
