Summary
Trine University invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Academics.
This 12-month position supports the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) in advancing institutional priorities related to curriculum, academic policy, assessment, accreditation, and faculty development.
The Assistant Dean for Academics must be committed to supporting Academic Affairs to meet Trine University’s mission through collaboration, thoughtful problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to guide complex academic initiatives to completion.
It is recommended that the Assistant Dean for Academics have a history of effective teaching at the university level and experience with academic assessment, accreditation, curriculum management, and related academic affairs processes. The Assistant Dean for Academics should present evidence of strong leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to build trust among collaborative university partners, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple academic initiatives simultaneously.
Duties and Responsibilities
In addition, the Academic Dean for Academics must provide the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, support, and guidance to university-wide academic assessment, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement efforts
- Provide leadership and quality assurance for academic policies, procedures, and the curriculum management process
- Provide leadership, support, and guidance to academic faculty committees and department chairs
- Provide support and guidance to the Registrar on academic process coordination
- Collaborate with the Student Success team on student support initiatives and student readmission and dismissal decisions
- Collaborate with the Business Office on academic-related requests and initiatives
- Collaborate with VPAA and Human Resources when applicable
- Serve as a direct report for applicable personnel within Academic Affairs
- Teach 3 credit hours per fall and spring semesters
- Supervise the Institutional Researcher & Reporter
- Collaborate with university departments on key processes and academic initiatives
- Other duties and assignments as identified by the VPAA
Qualifications/Required Education
An ideal candidate will have experience with assessment and/or accreditation. A doctoral degree is preferred, and candidates with master’s degrees will also be considered.
Salary
Rank and salary will be based on qualifications.
