Summary

The Practical Training Processor supports the Practical Training team in processing requests and maintaining records for students participating in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and STEM OPT. This role involves working knowledge of F-1 visa regulations related to employment and requires accuracy in handling student records, SEVIS updates, and communication. The Practical Training Processor serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and assists in SEVIS registration and batch updates as they relate to practical training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
  • Process CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT requests submitted by F-1 students.
  • Review and update SEVIS records related to employment authorization.
  • Assist with SEVIS registration and mass updates to records for students on practical training.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records in the student information system and SEVIS.
  • Respond to inquiries from students about practical training-related processes and documentation.
  • Monitor request queues and assist in resolving incomplete or returned e-forms.
  • Collaborate with Practical Training Advisors to support students through practical training authorization and reporting processes.
  • Monitor CPT students are registered for required internship courses when applicable.
  • Participate in audits and reports on student employment data.
  • Utilize the SEVIS system to pull data related to F-1 student OPT/STEM OPT employment.
  • Stay informed of updates to DHS/SEVP guidance and university policy as it relates to student employment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience with international student services, SEVIS, or F-1 regulations preferred.
