ANGOLA, Ind. - Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Commissioner David Neilson
                                 has announced the Academic Honor Roll for the 2012-13 academic year. The list includes
                                 107 Trine University student-athletes from all 18 MIAA teams. In addition, eight teams,
                                 including the women's cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track and
                                 volleyball teams along with the men's tennis squad, were announced as Team GPA award
                                 winners.
                              
                              The MIAA Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who achieved a minimum 3.5 grade point
                                 average for the entire 2012-13 academic year while also winning a varsity letter in
                                 a sport. Initiated in 1990, the Academic Honor Roll recognizes students at MIAA member
                                 colleges who excel in athletics and academics. Of the 107 Trine student-athletes named,
                                 five have earned the distinction all four years while at Trine. They are Sannie Anderson
                                 (cross country and track/Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia High School), Lauren Burns (golf/Wooster,
                                 Ohio/Cloverleaf), Annalisa Krug (cross country and track/Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield),
                                 Sarah Radekin (volleyball/Chillicothe, Ohio/Alexander) and Samantha Willmann (tennis/Anderson,
                                 Ind./Frankton).
                              
                              The Team GPA award is presented to conference teams that achieve a combined 3.300
                                 or better grade point average for the academic year. The eight teams for the Thunder
                                 to earn the award are the most in school history after six teams earned the honor
                                 a season ago. The Thunder also placed three squads in the top-10, second most by any
                                 school. Lead by first-year coach Ryan Gould, the men's tennis team was tops among
                                 all men's sports and eighth overall with a combined 3.543 GPA. Gould's women's tennis
                                 team also placed near the top of the conference with a 3.662 GPA, third highest among
                                 all teams. Also under a first-year head coach in Tom Knudson, the women's track team
                                 earned the highest GPA among the three schools to be honored with a 3.530, which was
                                 10th overall.
                              
                              For the first time since 2006, the volleyball team earned the award posting a 3.524
                                 under head coach Jamie Wozniak. The softball team, coached by Donnie Danklefsen, was
                                 honored in consecutive years for its 3.401 GPA which was the highest among the three
                                 Trine softball teams to receive the award. Coach Terry Stefankiewicz's women's soccer
                                 team tallied a GPA of 3.338 to earn the honor for the third straight season. The women's
                                 cross country team combined for a 3.352 GPA under coach Charlie Massi, giving it the
                                 award for the fifth straight year and the seventh time in nine years. In the first
                                 season as a conference sport, the women's lacrosse team, led by first-year coach Jeannine
                                 Ravellette, was one of just two to earn the school's honor with a 3.328 GPA.
                              
                              Of the 107 student-athletes honored, 40 have earned the distinction at least twice.
                                 The honorees include 34 freshmen, 30 sophomores, 18 juniors and 25 seniors. The football
                                 team led the Thunder with 13 student-athletes represented while the women's track,
                                 softball and volleyball teams each had nine honorees.
