Werling inducted into Hall of Fame

ANGOLA, Ind. – An All-American football standout at Trine University was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Oct. 5. John Werling, a 2001 graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in management, played on the Thunder football team from 1997 to 2000 and was team captain in 1999 and 2000.

Werling, of St. Henry, Ohio, was a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American in 1999 and 2000 and an NAIA All-American honorable mention in 1998. He was also a member of the NAIA Final Four Team in 1998.

In all-time rankings, he's first in unassisted tackles (231), second in total tackles (341) and fifth in assisted tackles (110). In single-season rankings, Werling is second in unassisted tackles (85 in 1998) and third in total tackles (120 in 1998). He was coached by Dale Carlson.
