ACJADustin Eggert, a 2011 graduate of Trine University who now works as an Indiana State Police trooper, directs a team from the University of Wisconsin-Superior as they process a mock crime scene Friday morning, Oct. 13, in the Baymont Inn & Suites in Auburn. About 75 students from Northwestern College in Bridgeview, Illinois; the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Superior, Wisconsin; Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; Waukesha County Technical College in Waukesha, Wisconsin; Vincennes University and Trine participated in the annual Region 6 Conference for the American Criminal Justice Association (ACJA) on Friday, Oct. 13, and Saturday, Oct. 14. Two chapters of law enforcement professionals also took part. Trine University’s Tau Alpha Omicron chapter of the ACJA hosted the event at the inn and the Auburn Police Department’s firearms range. The conference includes competitions in crime scene investigation, written examinations on various criminal justice categories, physical agility and firearms, and concludes Saturday evening with guest speaker Chief Deputy Rodney Robinson from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and an awards banquet.

$70K grant to fund undergraduate research at Trine

A Trine University faculty member has received a $70,000 grant from the American Chemical Society (ACS) to support research into gels that could improve oil recovery as well as impact production of food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
