Trine named Best Value School by U.S. News & World Report

September 13, 2017

Trine University broke into U.S. News & World Report’s Best Value Schools listing for the first time, according to rankings released Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Trine was listed in Best Value Schools among Midwestern Regional Colleges for the 2018 rankings, which are based on academic quality and 2016-17 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.

“With an employment rate of more than 99 percent for our graduates over the past three years, generous financial aid packages and ongoing improvements to our beautiful main campus, we continue to increase the value of a Trine education to our students and their families,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine University president. “As we expand our facilities and academic offerings, I’m confident that the educational experience at Trine will become more valuable and earn more recognition.”

The university was ranked 23rd among Midwestern Regional Colleges with a composite score of 65, up five points from last year. The composite weighted score is based on peer assessment, graduation and freshman retention rates, graduate rate, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving rate.

Trine’s Allen School of Engineering was listed among the Best Undergraduate Engineering Schools nationally at which the master’s is the highest degree offered.

U.S. News also included Trine in rankings among Midwestern Regional Colleges for:

  • Least amount of debt
  • Average amount of need-based aid awarded
  • Highest six-year graduation rate
  • Campus ethnic diversity
  • Economic diversity
  • Classes under 20 students
  • Freshman retention rate
  • Most international students
  • Lowest acceptance rate, indicating selectivity.
