Oursler joins Trine as director of development

Steve OurslerTrine University has added an experienced fundraiser with 17 years of higher education experience to its Office of University Advancement.

Steve Oursler has joined Trine as director of development, after most recently serving in a similar position at Midland University in Nebraska.

Oursler also has served in fundraising roles at several private colleges in Michigan, including work as senior director of philanthropy and planned giving at Albion College in Albion, Michigan, associate director of development at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He has been an integral part of three comprehensive campaigns, assisting donors in making the biggest impact with their philanthropy.

“Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in planned giving and major giving as well as familiarity with higher education in this region, and we’re excited for him to join our team at Trine,” said Kent Stucky, J.D., vice president for university advancement. “Trine University depends on many generous supporters to provide a quality education and vibrant campus environment to its students, and we look forward to Steve’s work in building those relationships.”

“I’m excited and honored to represent the university in this role. Trine University is a true success story in the higher education sector. We clearly have alumni and supporters who are energized about what is happening here, as they should be,” Oursler said.

“I want alumni to know there are numerous avenues to lend support, whether through giving, volunteering, or helping recruit future students. My hope is that donors will consider Trine University one of their top three philanthropic charities to continue our momentum into the future.”

Oursler holds Certified Fundraising Management (CFRM) designation from Indiana University and is a Certified Estate Planner (CEP).

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Hope College with a concentration in interpersonal communications.
