Trine University has promoted two staff members within the Office of Admission to
support growing enrollment, expanded recruitment efforts and an increased volume of
visitors at its Angola campus.
McGuire
Kelly McGuire has been promoted to assistant vice president of enrollment.
In this new role, McGuire will have direct oversight of all enrollment efforts at
the Angola campus, including undergraduate admission and financial aid. She will continue
to lead and manage the teams under admission and financial aid and continue to focus
on the student-centered approach to recruitment. She will be instrumental in the day-to-day
functions of both offices, but also begin to focus on long-term goals for the enrollment
team.
McGuire graduated from Trine in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
She previously served the university as executive director of enrollment and director
of financial aid.
Dykstra
Hailey Dykstra has been promoted to associate director of admission and visitor engagement.
In her elevated role, she will continue to manage her recruitment territory of the
Western United States and handle all aspects of the university’s individual visit
program. Dykstra, who has assisted with the university’s tour guide program as well,
will work on tour guide training and development to assist with all Admission campus
events.
She is a 2016 graduate of Indiana University and previously served as an admission
counselor.
“We have seen a large increase in the number of attendees for our visits, so this
elevated role will help with our recruitment efforts,” said Kim Bennett, vice president
for enrollment management.
“I am excited about these changes within our team and look forward to this coming
year as we continue to grow in inquiries as well as the number of students who come
to campus for visits,” Bennett said. “The campus visit experience is one of the most
powerful tools in our recruitment toolbelt, and we have so much to showcase from a
beautiful campus to incredible academic programs, an abundance of athletics and activities
to relatively new student housing. Ultimately students who come to campus for any
type of visit yield a much higher rate. We really do offer the Best Visit Ever and
it is our team and campus that make this happen.”
Trine’s Office of Admission has the primary responsibility to recruit and enroll new
students to the Angola campus. Part of that effort includes creating a personalized
student experience during campus visits.
The office has evolved from printed communications to more targeted outreach campaigns,
social media and content marketing, recruitment events and multiple channels of personalized
communications and content.
“It has been a collaborative effort cross-departmentally and these elevated roles
will help ensure our mission, goals and objectives are met,” Bennett said.
As we prepare to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) on June 23, it’s a great time to reflect on how far women have come in engineering fields as well as to assess opportunities for improvement.
Trine University is offering select prerequisite coursework at a reduced tuition rate of $150 per credit hour for students planning to apply to the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program beginning January 2027.
