Trine students form Future Educators group

Future EducatorsA new Trine University organization seeks to give students planning to enter the teaching profession the opportunity to gain unique experiences and connect with a variety of professionals.

The Society of Future Educators formed this past summer and currently has 33 members.

Facilitated by Education One, Trine University’s charter school authorizer, the club seeks to help members create connections with many different education professions, to better prepare them for their future classrooms.

The organization provides a safe environment for dialogue on equity and innovation. Planned activities include guest speakers and trips to Education One public charter schools.

Executive board members for the Society of Future Educators are: Abi Lloyd, a social studies education and special education major from Middlebury, Indiana, president; Maddie Kickbush, an English education major from Noblesville, Indiana, vice president; Makenna Owens, an elementary education major from Churubusco, Indiana, secretary; Abby Robison, an elementary education major from Englewood, Ohio, treasurer; and Kaci McComis, an English education major from Powell, Ohio, student government representative.

Ally Lung, university partnerships and marketing specialist for Education One, serves as advisor.
