Trine students excel at ACJA national competition
Students from Trine University’s TAO chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association (ACJA) took top awards at the organization’s national conference, held March 8-13 in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The Trine University Jazz Band will host its first concert of the 2023-2024 academic year Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, directed by assistant professor Brian Derek.
This concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will consist of two parts: Trine Combo and Big Band.
Trine Combo members are: Nathan Goossen, piano; Ryan Sederstrom, trombone; Colin Edwards, guitar; Kyle Smith, drums; and Brian Derek, adjunct professor, bass.
The group will perform: “Do It Again,” by Steely Dan; “Come Together,” by The Beatles; “Michelle,” by The Beatles; “Lucky Southern,” by Keith Jarrett; “Isn't She Lovely,” by Stevie Wonder; and “Every Breath You Take,” by The Police.
Trine Big Band members are: Ryan Hoak, piano; Colin Edwards, guitar; Tryton Sederstorm, Isaac Braun, Clay Wilson and Brett Schwartz, trumpet; Ethan Davis and Evan Cole, trombone; Derek Kinse and JP Soulliere, alto saxophone; and Blake Attig and Michael Rich, tenor saxophone.
The Big Band will perform “Blues Brothers Revue,” arranged by Roger Holmes; “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” arranged by Mark Taylor; “Birdland,” arranged by John Higgins; “B Is For Blues,” by George Shutack; “Earth, Wind and Fire Dance Mix,” arranged by Paul Murtha; “Red Clay,” arranged by Mark Taylor; “Purple Haze,” arranged by Roger Holmes; and “In The Mood,” arranged by Joe Garland.
