Trine’s Phi Kappa Theta chapter honored with Founder’s Cup

September 25, 2023

Trine University’s Indiana Alpha Gamma chapter of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity was recognized as the nation’s best chapter this summer.

The chapter received the organization’s Founder’s Cup at the fraternity’s 64th Biennial Convention, held Aug. 4 in Lexington, Kentucky.

“We were given this award for having exemplified our five areas of development the strongest out of all chapters in our organization,” former chapter president Nathan Matthews, who graduated in May, said. The five areas of development are fraternal, intellectual, societal, spiritual, and leadership.

The brothers were very proud to receive the award.

“Our organization is very passionate about serving our community and developing our brothers to be the best leaders,” Matthews said. “We have won the award back-to-back years, so we feel very appreciative that we can set a standard for our organization and show our commitment to being there for our community.”

The Founder’s Cup is awarded to the chapter that best exemplifies the national fraternity's values and its core development areas throughout the year while going above and beyond even those expectations.
