Trine University students Matthew Schaefer, left, and Cade Tucker play a round of
Udder Chaos at an event in the spring. The board game, which was created by a team
of Trine University students, will be one of six available to play at the Art of Games
event on Nov. 19.
Trine University students, employees and members of the community will have the opportunity
to play, watch and create characters for video and board games at the university’s
Art of Games event.
Hosted by Trine esports staff and university faculty, the event will take place from
4-7 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Mark and Sarah Music/Ruoff Mortgage Esports Arena.
“We hope people will see the community and culture aspect of board games and video
games, as well as the fact there are opportunities to interact with these mediums
at Trine through esports, majors and coursework,” said Joanna Claudy, assistant professor
in Trine’s Department of Humanities and Communication.
The event will include six board games, including Udder Chaos, a board game created
by Trine University students, and a giant version of Berrymandering, made by Tessellation
Games.
Video game options will include Mario Kart races on Nintendo Switch, the opportunity
to play Super Smash Bros against Trine Esports team members, a driving simulator,
VR treadmill and video games developed by Trine students.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a 3D character creation contest.
Free pizza will be available. The event counts as CHAT credit for Trine students.
The Trine University Choir will partner with the First Wayne Street Sanctuary Choir in Fort Wayne to perform “Songs to Soothe the Soul,” a celebration of choral music by noted female composers, on Sunday, March 22.
Sport management majors from Trine University’s Ketner School of Business recorded their best team finish and equaled their best individual placement at the National Collegiate Sports Sales Championship.
